Deirdre NI CHOISTIN

Deirdre NÍ CHOISTÍN is TG4’s first Head of News and Current Affairs. In July 2022, the Irish government accepted a recommendation by the Future of Media Commission that TG4 should have independent editorial control over its news service. Deirdre was appointed as Head of News and Current Affairs to achieve that aim.
She is Commissioning Editor of award-winning current affairs series Iniúchadh TG4 which won best investigative journalism at Prix CIRCOM 2023. She is also Commissioning Editor of a new news service for children Nuacht Cúla4 that is broadcast on new children’s channel Cúla4.
She established a popular online news and entertainment platform MOLSCÉAL for TG4 in 2017. Deirdre was TG4’s Communications Manager from 2019 – 2022 where she implemented a cohesive digital strategy across TG4’s social media platforms. She has extensive experience as broadcast producer and director of current affairs series for over fourteen years.
